Overview
This is a must have for any audiophile and especially so for the McIntosh system owner. Keeping it in the family, the massive MPC1500 power conditioner spots the ever familiar blue meter displays except this time, it shows the amount of current drawn and the incoming voltage. It has 12 outlets, in pairs of 6, where each pair has a maximum current draw of 11.2 amps and 1,350W. And providing all these current out to its outlets is a massive toroidal transformer which is the main contributor to its nearly 90 lb weight. Physically, it measures 17.5″ wide, 7 5/8″ tall and 22″ deep. Its definitely not something that is easy to move around!
Sonically, we heard a nice improvement in our system when we hooked our components to it. The amplifier had a deeper and more controlled bass response with a cleaner, smoother midrange and highs. Surge protection is provided via a module that automatically cuts when it detects a 2V above the nominal voltage.
Cosmetically, the unit looks good. The left end cap has a small side scratch (not visible from the front) but otherwise, the rest of the unit looks good. One owner from new. Unit will be securely packed for safe shipping.
