The 700 series from B&W showcases some of the best sounding monitor speakers you can buy for under $3,000. The 707 S2 you see here is their smallest and most affordable in the range. It goes up to the 706 S2 at $2,000 and the 705 S2 at $3,000. Sonically, if you have a room size slightly smaller than a medium, the 707 S2 will work very nicely in it. Like its bigger siblings in the range, the 707 S2 requires a solid sturdy stand to sound its best. The 2-way design is very well thought out and features a 1″ Decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter ad a 5″ Continuum cone mid-bass driver (both the 706 S2 and 705 S2 uses a 6.5″ mid-woofer instead). Frequency response is 50 – 28kHz which is the same range as its two older siblings with the main difference lying in the volume of the bass. Sensitivity is 84 dB with a nominal impedance of 8 ohm and B&W recommends a minimum of 30W to drive them. Each speaker is about 6.5″ wide and 11″ deep and tall. Getting to sound their best requires three things – a good quality system (source and amp), a solid pair of speaker stands and some patience in finding the best placement in your room. Soundstage was impressive with pinpoint accuracy and imaging. Its rear ported so getting them out from the rear wall gives a good depth to the soundstage.
The pair you see here is our last pair (we sold the DEMO) and is BRAND NEW. We only took it out for the pics you see here. Finish is satin white. We are pricing it at just $100 more than the DEMO pair got sold for, so this is a tremendous bargain to the lucky individual who is going to snap up this past pair. This is still a current lineup from B&W. Speakers will be securely boxed for safe shipping.
