The Model 15 is essentially two mono amps housed in one chassis. So if you look behind, you will see two AC cords coming out from each side of the amp. The shorter length AC cord plugs into the outlet from the other amp and the longer AC cord then plugs into your wall outlet or to a Marantz preamp or any preamp with a switched outlet on the back panel. On its own, it does not have a power on/off switch. So if it is plugged to a switch outlet on a Marantz preamp or any other preamp with that feature, it turns on when you turn on the preamp. If you are powering it on directly, you should use a power strip with a switchable on/off switch on it. The Model 15 has 60W in 8 ohm on tap. Not the most “powerful” numbers for a power amp but in an era where speakers were very efficient (like klipschorns), the Model 15 was more than up to the task. Even with today’s speakers, the Model 15 proved to be more adept than maybe the most current hungry or very inefficient speakers. It had a bold, authoritative sound and was a wonderful companion to the SC-7 preamp we have for sale in another listing. The two green “goblin” eyes in the front are their unique feature over some other models where they spot dual power meters.
Cosmetically, the amp looks really good for its vintage. Some scuff marks/ nicks here and there which are expected but nothing major. Adjusted for inflation, this amp would have carried a price tag of $1,900 in today’s dollars which would have been a bargain for its sound quality and collectability.
