Overview
You have to give it to the Swiss when they set their mind towards making a World Class reference monitor speakers, they would come up with something so delectable, it catches your auditory and visual senses immediately. The ONDIVA reference monitor speakers are not your typical “box” speakers but spots a rather unique shape that looks like a sideway “comma”. Each speaker uses their proprietary 7″ woofer and 1″ tweeter which is good for an impressive frequency range of 38Hz to 25KHz. Nominal impedance is 8 ohm with a sensitivity of 88.5 dB. Ensemble recommends a minimum of 50W but we drove them with their Massimo Fuoco hybrid integrated which is good for 100W. And that pairing is heavenly. The ONDIVA is one of the more balanced monitor speakers we have listened to. It was fast sounding with tight details and yet perpetuated a depth and scale that you would only get from a floorstanding speaker. Acoustic strings and vocals were particularly spot on in terms of realism and imaging that we had to occasionally open our eyes to just make sure a real singer wasn’t standing in our listening room.
The design, build and finish is not your simple slapping some wood together, putting in some drivers and crossover. Ensemble has a lengthy write up on this and we suggest you read it up on their website. The ARC stands you see in the pictures are included ($2,500 option) which is the best way to prop the speakers up in your room as they are designed specifically for them. Speakers are in incredible condition with very minor scuff marks. It has been very well taken cared off from its one and only owner. The only “issue” is the missing of one speaker grille peg (grille cover still stays on fine). Binding posts on the rear were designed to accommodate larger banana plugs (like the ones used on their $4,000 Delvivo speaker cables – also for sale in a separate listing) or use a banana size adapter. Speakers and stands are shipped in four boxes. Local pickup from our store can be arranged or if you want to ensure they arrive super safe, we can ship them strapped on a pallet.
