The VPI Prime is probable the sweet spot in their range (in our opinion). Its a far better built machine than the Player (which we just sold) or the Prime Scout and more in line with their Prime Signature series which sells for 50% more. At $4,500 MSRP, the VPI Prime is not exactly pricey when you factor all the goodies that come with it;
- VTA Tower for vertical tracking on the fly
- Classic Platter
- Outboard 300 RPM motor housing
- New “Prime” feet which offer improved isolation
- Stainless Steel/Delrin record clamp
- The JMW-10 3D Tonearm
Previous owner added the optional ring clamp (probably the best turntable accessory for $1,000 and below), an Ortofon Cadenza Red MC cartridge ($1,280 MSRP) and a custom made dustcover ($350) to protect his investment. On a sturdy and flat rack/table, the VPI Prime exudes all the charm that a well assembled turntable is about. If you have been hearing about the vinyl renaissance and want a setup that will bring you to that magical space, this is it without breaking the bank. Previous owner said he had about 60 hours into the cartridge. To change to 45 rpm, just slip the belt over the larger wheel on the motor and you are good to go.
Turntable has one owner from new and is in very nice condition. We have the original box and will securely pack this for safe shipping. Dustcover will be shipped in a separate box so shipping cost will be based on two boxes. Local pickup from our store can be arranged.
