The SC-7 you see here, in our opinion, is every bit as good as the Model 7C which we had sold earlier for close to $5,000. Both preamps may have been from different eras (the 7C from the Sixties and the SC-7 from the Eighties) but the SC-7 has adapted to the more “sophisticated” demands of the upcoming digital age. It was more dynamic sounding, punchier, richer and more detailed sounding. The crossovers was actually an asset to the preamp (especially when using vinyl, MM and MC, through it) and gave some credence to the betterment of music being played through it. Soundstage was well presented, lively and vivid. When it first came out in 1997, it sold for $650 which would have roughly translated to almost US$3,000 now. Not cheap by any measure for that time period but then again, its hard to quantify something that would eventually become a collectible. Previous owner had the Marantz Model 15 paired together (also for sale in another listing) and they were magical. Both are now legendary gems under the Marantz stable that do not demand thousands of dollars to own. The SC-7s were immaculately Made in Japan and with a variable switch on the back where you can select 110V to 240V, it can be used anywhere in the World! Unit has been checked through and worn out parts replaced so it will be good to go for many more years to come.

Cosmetically, the SC-7 looks really good for its vintage. Some scuff marks/ nicks here and there which are expected but nothing major. This unit is on another level of special and collectability so don’t miss the chance to own this beauty!
