If you thought the Electra 906 looks like a distant cousin of Focal’s flagship Micro Utopia BE speaker, you are not far off. The cabinet’s shape draws similarities with the same “W” 6.5″ woofer used and instead of a Beryllium tweeter, it uses a 1″ titanium coated invertedĀ dome tweeter. Speaker can be biwired and offers a frequency range of 50 Hz to 23 kHz with a nominal impedance of 8 ohm and a sensitivity of 90 dB. Standing 16.5″ tall, a pair of sturdy and heavy 24″ or 22″ stands will be critical in bringing out the best from them. With a width of about 9″ wide and 12″ deep, you would also want the top plate of the stands to be sizeable enough to hold the speakers securely. And with some play in the positioning in your room, you are all set to enjoy these speakers. Soundstage and depth is really good and imaging with vocals are excellent. Bass is quite bountiful with a strong presence rather than deep and boomy. Mids and highs shines with warm rich textures and a smooth roll off. The Electra 906 in our opinion is having 80-90% of the Micro Utopia BE’s for much lesser money – a fantastic buy.
Cosmetically, the speakers look really good for its vintage. Minor scuff marks here and there and a small hole on one of the grille cover but otherwise still very presentable. Speakers will be securely packed for safe shipping.
