Here is another great speaker from the highly successful 600 series of speakers from B&W. The design is a four driver, 3-way design that comprises of one 1″ aluminum dome tweeter, one 6″ Continuum cone FST midrange and two 6.5″ Paper Bass units. This gave the speakers a frequency range of 48 Hz to 33 kHz and a nominal impedance of 8 ohm and a sensitivity of 88.5 dB. Each speaker stands about 39″ tall (42″ with the plinth), 7.5″ wide (12.5″ at the plinth) and 13.4″ deep (14.6″ with the plinth). Speakers are rear ported so we would recommend giving them about 18″ of space off the rear and side wall. Once you have them placed strategically in your room, just like how they were in our listening room, you would immediately start relishing the musicality of these speakers. Soundstage was grand with great depth and detail. Vocals in our opinion are their strong points. The imaging was truly outstanding. At $2,000 MSRP, they are quite the bargain. Of course some cuts have to be made to price them this affordably and that is their finish. They may lack the glossy finish of their more expensive models but if you are on a tight budget and want one of the best sounding speakers for under $2,000, they are it.
The pair you see here were former DEMOs (factory warranty included). They look very good overall with just minor scuff marks near the bottom of one speaker (around the brand name) which you have to get up close and bend over to see it. If you put on the grilles then they are not visible at all. Speakers are shipped in two boxes. Local pickup from our preferred.
