If you want to invest in a pair of great sounding surround speakers, look no further. The SR3 was widely used in top notch home theater systems when it was first introduced and at its $3,800 MSRP then, needless to say, they were not “cheap” home theater systems. Surround speakers generally get overlooked when setting up a home theater system where they are judged as just providing background “noise” but in many newer movie soundtracks, there is actually a lot of information coming out from the surround speakers. And the SR3 is an excellent sound purveyor of all these information and can make a big difference in the overall enjoyment of a movie. The speakers have controls for switching between Dipole and Bipole and tweeter/mid-woofer attenuation to best fit it in the room is placed in. There are 5 drivers in each speaker – 1x 7″ woofer, 2x 4.5″ mids and 2x 0.75″ tweeters. Frequency response is 55 Hz to 22 kHz with a sensitivity of 85 dB and an impedance of 6 ohm. You would need at least 50W to properly drive them and you should feel comfortable moving up to 200W. Speakers are fairly hefty at about 28 lbs with the grille so if you are planning to mount them on walls, make you they are properly secured. Dimensi0ns are 17.2″ wide, 16.2″ tall and 6.6″ deep (measured with the grilles on).
Cosmetically, there are the usual scuff marks, paint peel from use but nothing major. One of the grille cover is missing a peg but no issues with it staying secure on the speaker since there are three other pegs. Speakers will be securely packed for safe shipping.
