The STASIS technology was one of the great audio engineering “wonders” (engineered and patented by Nelson Pass) from the Nineties. And the Threshold amps that carried this technology is still one of the most coveted amps in hifidom. This S/300 is a later design that featured Optical Bias (which increases its desirability) which was a sonic improvement over the earlier models that didn’t have it. Technology was state of the art back then but the amp easily rivals anything out there in the sub-$5,000 category. Power output is a robust 150W per channel and the built and finish is second to none. Threshold gears are very rugged and almost meant to last forever…. Anyway, we had this setup together with the FET-One preamp (which belonged to the same one owner from NEW) in one of our listening rooms and the level of clarity, power reserve, punch and dynamics was more akin to a much higher end and more expensive system. We have the FET-One for sale in another listing.
Cosmetically, the amp looks really good. Minor scuff marks here and there that are common with use but this is easily the best looking S/300 we have gotten in so far. We have the original box and manual and will securely pack this monster for safe shipping.
