One of the best thing about Rega’s turntables are they are simple, easy to setup and so musical. The Planar 25 is no different and being that it is the celebrated model that represents their 25th Anniversary, the turntable is a gem. This setup you see here is a perfect example of how a well designed table with a highly rated arm and a legendary cartridge can make it sound like a turntable that cost two, even three times more. Just the arm, a RB600 (a higher spec RB300 that was specific to the Planar 25), sells for $750 on its own and the Shelter 501 is a $1,300 MC cartridge. So in terms of package and price, this setup is quite a bargain. The glass platter has a rubber mat top and the dust cover you see in the pics is included.
Cosmetically, the unit is in very nice condition. Some minor scuff marks here and there but nothing major. Cartridge we were told has about 200 hours on it so we will leave it to your discretion as to whether it needs to be re-tipped or replaced with a cartridge of your preference.
