The current XP series of preamps from Pass Labs has evolved so much from their earlier X-series that you could readily notice it from the way its constructed and more importantly how different they sound. The original X-series was very good. It was very transparent, neutral and distinctively detailed and clean. The XP-22 pushed that boundary even further. There is better control and precision in its reproduction of music. Paired with top notch ancillaries and you get a top notch sound. Pair it with so-so components and you get a so-so sound. It does not take away or add anything in the musical chain as far as we have tried it with different components in our store. It is so revealing that a well matched system will immediately shine and you can hear it. No wonder this was an Absolute Sound recommended component. It is not as neutral as a passive preamp but its close. So if you want your music as honest as possible and have top notch components to fully utilize its strengths, you will not be disappointed. Preamp is a two chassis unit with a beefy power supply placed in a separate cabinet to keep electrical interference away from the sensitive signal boards.
Condition of the preamp is very good. Just light signs of use and the occasional scuff marks typical from use. We have the original box and metal remote.
