Overview
The original A21 that preceded this was such a neat design that it remained in production for 15 years! That is a very rare feat in today’s audio circles and is also probably why it took Parasound that many more years to come out with something even better. But they did and the A21+ was born. It is now 20% more powerful at 300W, power supply filter capacitance is increased by 23%, S/N ratio up by 3dB, THD halved and capacity of the transformer increased to 1.3kVA are the more potent changes made in the A21+. Weight of the amp also increased by 11 lbs to an even heftier 71 lbs from all these changes. Cosmetically, a touch of gold accents can be found on the front fascia which does give it a more premium look over the plain looking A21. The A21+ can also be bridged (if you get another unit and run them as monoblocks) for 1,000W per channel which is 250W more than the original A21!
Sonically, it retained the same sonic signature of the A21 but with better dynamics, more refinement and better power extensions. We loved the A21 and the + version is like the “grown up”, more matured sounding A21. With only a $500 premium over the A21, the A21+ is a steal. So for the midfi budget audiophile, the A21+ will offer a slice of high end audio without burning a giant hole in the wallet. Cosmetically, the amp is in great shape with very minor scuff marks common with use. Amp is one owner owned from NEW and is still a current model in Parasound’s lineup. We have the original box and will securely pack it for safe shipping.
