The Monitor Audio Gold 10 is a bargain monitor speaker. Well built with quality materials and a rich gorgeous sound separates it with other sub-$2000 monitor speakers. We found vocals, jazz, light rock and classical music to sound really good through these speakers. Beautifully layered mid-range and a sweet high that was very easy on the ear. Bass was a tad light but it was probably tune to provide more essence on the lower mid-range than rock bottom bass. Electronic and heavy rock may be a bit too challenging for them but it tries to keep pace respectfully. The Gold Reference 10 is not going to rival our other “reference” monitor speakers – the Krell Resolution 3, but at nearly one third the MSRP of the Krell, it was the next best, bargain alternative. Frequency range is 40 Hz to 30 kHz with a nominal impedance of 8 ohm and a sensitivity of 88 dB. Each speaker is packed with one 1″ dome tweeter and one 6.5″ mid-woofer. A strong sturdy par of stands are essential to bring out the best from this 8.75″ wide, 14.75″ tall and 11.5″ deep speaker.
Cosmetically, the speakers look good. Some minor scuff marks/nicks here and there but nothing major. We don’t have the original box but will securely pack this for safe arrival.
