Overview

This is the classic McIntosh tube amp that has gone through the decades with various improvements to arrive at version VI you see here. In its latest guise, it has the beefier, gold plated Solid Cinch speaker binding posts and not the “parts bin” binding posts you see on the MC275 V version. The XLR and RCA inputs are now relegated to the “second” level which is so much better. In the MK.V, both the XLR and RCA inputs share the same panel with the speaker bindings posts which made a “spaghetti” mess of cables running in and out of the MC275. This is not a tube amp that emphasizes power (75W) but rather elegance and beauty. Through its four KT88 tubes,  it rendered music with a sweet high, wonderful sounding mids and a rounded bottom end. Bass may not be as tight as one that is reproduced by a solid state amp but it does get deep and full. Careful pairing with a preamp is essential in making the pair transform into a musical powerhouse. The amp does a little “light show” when turned on where the LED lights in the tube sockets glow red and sequentially turn green from left to right as each tube is ready for operation. Tubes have about 200 hours of use. One owner from NEW. Cosmetically, the amp is in great shape. Some minor scuff marks from being used but nothing major. Some of the wordings on the rear chrome plate is slightly worn out. We have the original box and manual.
