The Model 7 is arguably one of the greatest audio component ever made and existed. It was a Saul Marantz design from start to finish and what an epic piece it is. This unit had one previous owner since new and was paired with her soulmate, the Model 8. Together, they make music that are so surreal, you could almost feel like you are living in it. The Model 7 may be over fifty years old now but it has not lost its charm or its podium position as amongst the best preamp ever made. Unit was recently sent to an authorized Marantz service center in NYC for a full restoration work. Original caps, resistors and other replacement parts that were used fifty years ago when Marantz were making them out of their factory was strictly used. Unlike other restoration services (that were not performed by authorized Marantz centers) where newer or non-original caps and parts were used, we had the service center stick to only one rule – all factory original parts and specs. The non-original Model 7 are slightly cheaper but if you are a true blue Marantz audiophile or a collector, you would want to get one that is restored with original spec parts. Its like buying a vintage Rolex, you won’t want one that has its internal parts replace with non-original parts. And this Model 7 is the Rolex of hifi.
Listening to the Model 7/8 combo is what pure musical bliss is all about. The warm sound of tubes intermixed with lively imaging, clean cut details and a 3D like soundstage are generously put forth by this combo. Too find something that is offered now that shares the same trait as the Marantz pieces, you would be looking into the five figure price tags for a similar setup. Its no wonder why they have increased so much in value over the years. Add the increasing scarcity of finding them in such condition in the market, its not surprising, they can fetch as much as five figure prices for the combo. This all American classic will be securely packed for safe shipping.
