The Luxman PD-277 is a wonderful vintage turntable. Simple to setup, operate and a pretty well engineered turntable for $250 now. Its a direct drive design so no issue with dried up rubber belts down the road. Current cartridge on its 12″ single rod aluminum tonearm with integrated headshell is a Ortofon Super OM Pro S MM cartridge. Its a decent cartridge (needle is slightly off tangent but works fine) if you just want to spin some vinyls but we encouraged you to try some more “exotic” cartridges to really get the best out it. Like with any used cartridges, its always a good idea to have a spare ready. Previous owner upgraded the phono cables to a thicker gauge Canare L-4E6S cables which supposedly gave it a more “meaty” sound over the thinner stock cords. The Automatic Start function is inoperable but that is a “convenience” feature and turntable works just fine with you lifting the tonearm on to the record and back, like you would with any turntable without the auto cue function. Finer adjustment to the speed can be made under the strobe display.
Cosmetically, the turntable looks good for its vintage. We don’t have the dustcover but will securely pack it for safe shipping. Copy of manual is included.
