Overview
There is always something romantic about French tube gears. Kora has been an outfielder in this respect. Carving their own beautiful sounding gears in some very unconventional “cases”. Take these pair of Cosmos for example. Shaped like something that came out from the Battlestar Galactica TV series, each amp is fitted with eight 6AS7G dual-triode output tubes, four EL84M driver tubes and two 6922s. When Stereophile reviewed these amps, they couldn’t believe they retailed for only $5,500 when $10,000 was a more appropriate price tag for something that sound this good. We have sold man Jadis amps before (the other big name from France) and to be honest, after all that golden gleam of brass and the sweet luscious sounds it produces, are not on the same page with the Cosmos here. The Cosmos may not have the same exacting sweet beguiling sound of the Jadis but it gave it a close run and had more dynamism. Some listeners found the Jadis to be too relaxed sounding but not the Cosmos. It was warm and punchy. Producing 100W per channel, it can drive most speakers out there with ease. Current set of tubes tested out good and were previous benchmark amps for a reviewer where newer model amps were reviewed against. That says a lot for these Cosmos.
Amps look good with some minor scuff marks common with use but nothing major. We don’t have the original boxes for them so local pickup from the store preferred.
