The JP-80MC is one of the most recognizable preamp in the audio World. And for good reason too. For one, it is so popular it has remained in production for decades (in various iteration over the years) and remains one of the most favorite choice among audiophiles when they want one the most musical sounding preamp on the planet. The 25th Anniversary version you see here is a limited production of 100 pieces Worldwide and from what we gather from its single owner from NEW is one of two sets sold in the US. It is still a two chassis unit like the regular version but with various “mods” to distinguish it. The most obvious is the “25th Anniversary” branding on the top covers and front faceplate of the units. Then there is the story plaque at the rear back plate and some internal tweaks in the units to up the ante on the already very musical preamp. The brass plating on the faceplate is also a better constructed to minimize the effects of discoloration that we commonly find on the regular JP-80MC. These limited production units has a cleaner soundstage, better definition and focus over the regular JP-80MC that we recently sold. Inputs are the same with four line inputs and a MM/MC phono input. Tubes used ECC88x2, ECC83x6, EF86x1 and EL84x1. The flagship JA-80 25th Anniversary monoblocks (also limited to a production limit of 100) were their partnering amp but you could use it with any poweramp out there. Previous owner had it paired with a pair of McIntosh MC-601 and the Jadis replaced a McIntosh C-1100C/T tube preamp which he said pales in comparison to the Jadis. Serial number is 31/100.
Cosmetically, the preamp looks good. Minor scuff marks here and there but nothing major. We have the original box and will securely pack them for safe shipping. As they are shipped in two boxes, multiply by two for actual shipping.
