Overview
With the evolved Triton One.R as the current offering from Golden Ear and costing $7,500 a pair, the Triton One that you see here at $2,495 is quite the steal now. It is second from the top under the Tower series lineup and offers a powered subwoofer section within the same confines with its other “passive” drivers that are driven by the output from your amp. Although its a three way design, each speaker is fitted with ten drivers (!). There is one 1.06″ x 1.31″ High-Velocity Folded Ribbo tweeter, two 5.25″ mid-woofers flanking it, three 5″ x 9″ woofers that are powered by its onboard amp (a control knob onĀ the rear allows level adjustment on the bass) and four 7″ x 10″ passive radiators. The onboard amp is a 1600W Class D unit. Frequency range is 14 Hz to 35 kHz with a sensitivity of 92 dB and a nominal impedance of 8 ohm. The manufacturer recommends driving them with a minimum of 20W to 650W on the top end. Speakers stand 54″ tall, about 6″ wide in the front (8″ wide at the rear) and 16.5″ deep. Speakers look pretty attractive with its black cloth socks encasing almost the entire speaker (only the top and bottom plate are glossy plastic).
Speakers were a joy to listen to. Soundstage was wide, tall and deep. The image it projected was a bit more forward than usual so we had to move our usual listening spot/chair about 3 feet back because of this. The bass was not overpowering and just about perfect when you make finer adjustments with the room they are placed in. All in all, a truly impressive pair of speakers for the money. Easily one of the better sounding under $5,000 speaker now. Speakers look really good. Minor scuff marks on the plastic caps but black socks are in great shape. One owner from NEW. The bag containing the AC cord, manual and spikes are still sealed in the bag and never been used! We have original boxes and will be shipped strapped on a pallet. Local pickup from our store welcomed.
