Overview

The Cello Palette does not hide its audio studio roots. With the ability to make the finest adjustments across the frequency spectrum (internal circuit board is their proprietary design) is a hallmark of this legendary preamp. The purist audiophile may scorn at all this “tinkering” of the signal but as many owners of this preamp has come to realize, with this many levels of configuration, you could actually tailor the music that best synergizes the impact of the room and the system. It does involve a great deal of time and commitment in finding that point of nirvana but the path towards it is so rewarding. As the MIV version, it will accept up to four sources – three pairs of RCAs and one pair of Fisher (their version of the XLR input) which is more than sufficient in most setup. With two pairs of RCA outs and one pair if Fisher, you could biamp your speakers via a pair of amps. The external power supply connects to the main control unit via a five prong cord that is long enough for you to position the power supply further away from the control unit.

Unit looks good with some light scratches/scuff marks here and there but overall, still in very nice shape. Used prices for this preamp has been appreciating over the years with one recently sold for $20,000. What makes this unit such a steal now is that it was recently serviced, recapped and brought back to original specs (with test results) in April 2022 by one of the original engineers at Cello. We have the original crate and manual. Due to it being housed in a crate for shipping, this will have to ship freight where it is strapped on to a pallet.
