Overview
Specs wise, the CT-80 is an impressive speaker. 93 dB sensitivity, nominal impedance of 4 ohm and a frequency range of 22 Hz to 30 kHz, these speakers are ready to fill any room with great music. Its a three way design with a 8.5″ woofer taking LF duty, a 5″ mid-woofer to handle the midsĀ and a 1″ aluminum magnesium tweeter to produce the detailed highs. As a floorstanding speaker, its on the smaller scale where it stands 31.5″ tall, 11″ wide and 11.5″ deep. So not particularly big but it has a big heart inside. Feed it with gobbles of quality power and the CT-80 can really sing. Its not particularly hard hitting but smooth, richly textured with a nicely rolled off high and a voluminous bottom end. Very similar to their other speaker models under the Canton brand. Pitched in the mid-range category, we would place them closer to the top of the category for its ease of drive and musicality. Add its Made in Germany tag and reasonably affordable MSRP, the CT-80 is a good value buy. At under $700 now, they are a bargain.
Speakers look good in general. Some scuff marks and dings (one on the rear top corner of one speaker and one on the front side edge of another speaker) here and there but nothing major. Speakers are shipped in two boxes so factor x2 on the shipping.
