These are the “improved” version of the original 685 where it now spots a redesigned tube-loaded tweeter and a new badge plate in front of it. The highs are now smoother and less “dry” from its predecessor and brings the 685 high level of performance a tad higher. Frequency response is 49 Hz to 22 kHz and with its front port design, you can place them closer to a back wall to reinforce the bass energy from the speakers. Nominal impedance is 8 ohm with a sensitivity of 88 dB. Recommended power to drive is 100W and we fully recommend it and more because these speakers will sound so good you would want to crank them up a bit higher than your normal listening levels.
Cosmetically, the speakers look good. There are a few nicks/scuff marks here and there and a very small corner ding on the rear of one speaker. One of the speaker’s rear plate has a bit of glue residue stain from a sticker that was placed there but not visible from the front. Speakers will be securely packed for safe shipping.
