Overview
As powered studio monitors, the HS8 speakers you see here is as impressive as any studio monitors costing three or even four times more. It is such a thought out design that even the screws are scientifically measured to be placed in certain positions to minimize cabinet resonance. Each speaker spots an 8″ woofer and a 1″ dome tweeter that plays out from 38 Hz to 30 kHz. The two amps that powers the two drivers are 75W and 45W respectively and were also designed to specifically drive the drivers at its optimum performance. We tried them as desktop speakers, which was an overkill because they were so good, it was a total waste sitting them on the desk and barely 3 feet away from your ears. Mounting them on stands however, was a different story. Here, they will easily put to shame some conventional passive speakers that are priced at our current sale price or their $1,145 MSRP. The level of precision, accuracy and speed is impressive. Soundstaging was clean and pin point with singers and instruments well placed out and the bass fast and punchy. Needless to say, if you craft music in a studio or do any kind of mixing and recording and want a pair of speakers that are powered, neutral and un-colored, give this HS8 a consideration.
Speakers are very well made with a solidly built cabinet and structure. The pair here looks really good with minor scuff marks here and there that are common with use. We have the original boxes and manual for them. They will be shipped in two boxes so factor in x2 for the total shipping cost.
