As one of the more sought after vintage Thorens turntable, the TD165 C is still quite the crowd pleaser. The design execution was clearly focused on delivering the best vinyl sound possible. No complicated designs or over engineered theme on this turntable. Just install a great sounding cartridge and the TD 165 C is ready to rumble. Using the turntable is very simple and straightforward. Just slide on a record, turn the unit on by selecting the speed – 33 or 45 rpm and cue the tonearm and then sit back and enjoy. Cartridge currently on it is a Audio Technica MM cartridge. Hours used on the cartridge is about 150-200 hours based on the info given so lots of life still left. This turntable is so desirable that it is not uncommon to find one that has been modified and upgraded that sells for close to $1,500!
Cosmetically, the turntable looks good for its age. Some scuff marks/scratches here and there but nothing major. The only thing we suggest upgrading or modifying is to replace the original RCA plugs. The plugs currently on it are old and cracked. It works okay when you have them plugged in securely to the female RCA end or else you might get a bit of bleed through hum. We have the original box and will double box it for safe arrival. There is no anti skate weight (previous owner lost it) but you can find them on eBay. Table works fine without it too. Local pickup from our store is welcomed.
