Finland nails it when it comes to making speakers that not only look aesthetically beautiful but also sounds great. Just take a look at this pair from Amphion and two other pairs from Penaudio (see our other listings). True beauties. You probably would have seen Amphion bookshelf speakers (with their signature tweeter with a flared out port and woofer) all around but the Neon floorstander is a rare gem. They are not “big” floorstanders at 37.5″ tall, 9″ wide and 12″ deep. Its essentially like their bookshelf speakers but with an extended cabinet structure. Drivers used are 1x 1″ aluminum dome tweeter and 1x 8″ aluminum woofer that are good for a frequency range of 30 Hz to 20 kHz. Nominal impedance is 8 ohm with a sensitivity of 87 dB. Recommended power to drive them is 20W to 250W. We drove them with 150W and they were impressive. Especially with vocals, jazz and light classical music. The soundstage was precise, well spaced out with good depth and height. Vocals were particularly holographic when the speakers are slightly toed in our listening room. As expected from metal based drivers, music delivery was clean cut, tight and fast.
Cosmetically, the speakers look really nice. Minor scuff marks common with use but nothing major. We have the original boxes, but no spikes for them.
