The Model 3 is an all time classic that literally never runs out of style, or in our case, sound. They are such accomplished speakers that even today, you would be hard pressed to find anything that will sound better than they and cost under $1,000. Especially the pair you see here which is the “A” version. As the “A” version, Vandersteen improved the mid-range, crossover components and put in place its new 1″ alloy tweeter. As a four-way bi-wirable speaker, it also has one 4.5″ mid-range, one 8″ long-throw woofer and a 10″ sub-bass woofer. Frequency range is 26 Hz to 30 kHz with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms.
The big “”plus”” on these speakers are their spatial imaging. Position them 3-5 feet away from the back and side walls and you will be treated to a deep, holographic soundstage. Listening to vocals was like having a stage in your room and the singer right smack in the middle. The speakers are not dynamic like a Wilson WATT/ PUPPY setup but smooth and easy. They do get into a rhythm of their own but in a more relaxed demeanor. If you want to enjoy your music and want a full range sound, this is a good choice. Each speaker is 48″ tall by 16″ wide and 10.25″ deep and weighs 89 lbs.
Overall condition of the speaker is good. Some scuff marks/nicks on the wooden frames but nothing major. We don’t have the original boxes but will securely pack them for safe shipping.
