The Polk Audio CS400 is not a dorky little center channel speaker that you see almost everywhere for $200. This is a “massive” center channel speaker when compared to those. Twin 6.5″ woofer and a 1″ tri-laminate dome tweeter are its main drivers and two pairs of speaker binding posts on the rear allows for bi-wiring or bi-amping. How’s that for a serious center channel speaker! You will also notice that unlike other center channel speaker that may have a rear bass port, the CS 400 has it with a power port plate that acts as a symmetrical sound diffuser when air is pushed out from the rear port.
So how does it sound? Outrageously good for $200! Bass slam was tight and impressive (for its size) and its mids and highs were detailed and accurate. For most home theater systems, this will provide total enjoyment to movie watching. Front of the speaker is nice and clean and the only major blemish is a slight corner edge peel (see picture) on the rear of the speaker. Totally not visible from the front. Some other very minor scuff marks but otherwise is in very presentable shape. We don’t have the original box but will securely pack it for safe arrival.
