This was quite the accomplished player from the LD era where it excelled in sonic qualities more so than its video. Obviously, with the advent of HD video, the resolution of LDs at best, is the much better “VHS”. Audio wise, the Pioneer is an impressive performer for under $300 and will easily compete with any CD-only player costing up to $500 now. DAC on board is a 96 kHz/ 2o-bit which was commonly found in some of Pioneer’s higher end CD players. DVD playback is currently set for Region 1. LD and CD playback works wonderfully. This is a nostalgic player to own and cherish!
Cosmetically, the unit is in nice shape. Minor scuff marks here and there and a few dings on the top cover but nothing major. We don’t have the original box but will securely pack this classic player for safe shipping. A Logitech Harmony 650 remote that has been programmed to operate the Pioneer is included.
