The MA5200 was their “cheapest” integrated offering where it has their signature blue power meters on the front. This particular unit was purchased just before it was replaced by the MA5300 (almost similar specs) which happen to cost $1,000 more at $5,500. Power output is the same healthy 100W per channel and in the same “slim” chassis and a very manageable 38lbs (unboxed). There is really nothing to dislike bout the MA5200. It does everything so well it is almost the perfect poster boy for a good quality solid state integrated amp. Add its onboard 32-bit/192KHz DAC and MM phono stage, there is really nothing else you need out from this MA5200. This is an integrated amp that will keep any McIntosh fan or converted fan happy without breaking the bank. McIntosh do offer some serious integrated amps up the ladder but they cost thousands more and is big and heavy. And in the modest listening room which the MA5200 is more at home with, the difference between it and its bigger brothers are marginal.
Cosmetically, the amp is in good shape. Minor scuff marks here and there but nothing major. We have the original remote and a copy of the manual and will securely double box it for safe shipping.
