Here is a DAC and a digital preamp all rolled up in one. With five available digital inputs and an extra set of variable outputs, the D100 can be used as a DAC (32 bit/ 192KHz) or as a digital preamp. If headphones is your cup of tea, it has a headphone out on the front too.
As a DAC, this is a very good machine. Music was crystal clear with very good definition and placement. As a preamp, it was simply a volume pot just after the signal that was processed by the DAC. So it was pretty straightforward and simple and negated the need for an external preamp which might be what some users want – a simple setup with a “short” signal journey between the source unit and the amplification.
Cosmetically, the unit is in very good shape. Minor scuff marks from use but nothing major. We have the original inner box and remote. Manual is available online.
