Here is another classic McIntosh gear from yesteryears. It was a real volume seller for McIntosh and for good reason. When it was paired with a like minded McIntosh amp, the pre/power combo becomes a formidable duo of musicality. They were commonly paired with Klipsch or McIntosh speakers (you could also pair them with any other speakers) from the era and they were impossible to dislike. The C28 has more features and function over the C26 we had sold earlier. The same mid-range warmth is there but the bass is stronger and had more presence on the C28. Highs were smooth and nicely rolled off without any strain. It may not have the same precision sound as some modern day preamps in the sub-$1,500 price category but for musical enjoyment, the C28 is a runaway champ. Add its nostalgic element, rich history and collectibility, this is a hifi trophy worthy of any audio rack. We have the matching MR77 and MC7100 that were part of the same system for sale in a separate listing.
Cosmetically, the unit looks good for its age. One owner since new. It has the usual scuff marks and nicks (very minor) common with vintage gears but nothing major. Unit will be securely boxed to ensure safe shipping.
