Under Klipsch’s Reference Premiere lineup, the RP-450C you see here is the range’s flagship center speaker. Measuring 31″ wide, 14″ deep and 7″ tall, its a massive center speaker where you could mount your TV on top of its cabinet. The speaker has four 5.25″ Cerametallic woofers and one 90×90 Hybrid Cross-Section Tractrix horn with a 1″ titanium diaphragm tweeter. Sensitivity is a very high 97dB with a nominal impedance of 8 ohm. Driving this speaker is very easy and 10W is more than sufficient (but more is always better). The speaker has a rear-firing Tractrix port so you will need to allocate some space at the back of the speaker for the airflow to exit the speaker.
In our home theater setup, this center speaker is far the largest sounding center speaker in the under $1,000 price category (in our opinion). Mids and highs were sharply portrayed with great precision and the mid-bass was quick and punchy. Dialogue was lifelike and natural sounding which added a lot more realism in the projected soundstage. Frequency response is 58 Hz to 25 kHz.
Cosmetically, the speaker looks good. Minor scuff marks/nicks from use but nothing major. We don’t have the original box but will securely pack it for safe shipping.
