There was a time when manufacturers were churning out products that was so good and you needn’t need to take out a second mortgage to buy one. This is one such product. The Mimesis 7 is a legend. Period. It was a top class preamp in its time and is still one heck of a preamp to beat in terms of sound quality. It was fast, had absolute transparency and a detail level that would have made some current five figure preamps embarrassed. Unit had one owner from new and he bought this together with the Mimesis 8 power. He later changed the power amp to the Mimesis 28 (also for sale in a separate listing) because a change in his speakers necessitated more power and the Mimesis 28 was 60% more powerful than the older Mimesis 8. Preamp has been re-capped about 4 years ago and this one has the highly sought after MC phono input. The phono stage as some users/reviewers have commented before, is a worthy phono stage that rivalled any stand alone phono preamp costing up to $5,000.
Cosmetically, the preamp is in very nice shape. Face plate is nice and clean with a bit of fine scratches on the top cover but nothing major. Operating the unit is very straight forward. Once plugged in, it is “live” and you just “Mute” or “Un-mute” it. That’s it, plain and simple. Preamp will work in either 110V or 220V by switching it behind. Unit will be securely packed for safe shipping.
