The Contour S 5.4 is the next best option if the Confidence C2 or C4 is beyond your budget. It may not have the luxurious built quality as the Confidence series of speakers but at thousands of dollars cheaper and still sturdily built, the Contour S 5.4 is a solid best buy on its own. If you have a small or medium size room or even a large room, the Contour S 5.4 is probably one of the better floorstanding speakers that would genuinely bring music in to the room. Physically smaller than the Confidence C4 Platinum which we just sold, the Contour S 5.4 is about 58″ tall, 15.5″ wide and 16″ deep. But specs wise, the difference is really minor. The Contour S 5.4 has a frequency range of 30 Hz to 27 KHz versus 27 Hz to 25 KHz on the C4 Platinum. Sensitivity is 87 dB versus 88 db with the same nominal impedance of 4 ohm. So not surprisingly, the Contour S 5.4 sounded very close to the C4 Platinum. It has a holographic soundstage with good depth and width. The mids and highs were warm and sweet and the bass punchy without sounding too boomy. The speakers love good quality power so drive them with a good amp and with at least 100W or more.
Cosmetically, the speakers look good. Some minor scuff marks/nicks from use but nothing major. Most of the scuff marks/nicks are on the base plinth. Each speaker weighs close to 105 lbs so local pickup from our store preferred or if shipping is required, they will be shipped strapped on a pallet.
