The slim design Audience 122 floor speakers are wolves in sheep clothing. With two 6″ woofers and one 1.25″ tweeter on each speaker that measures barely 6.5″ wide, 38″ tall and 10″ deep, they can throw out an incredibly large soundstage. Spaced them 6-7 feet apart and in the right room, you could almost “visualize” a 10 feet wide soundstage with really good imaging and depth. Nominal impedance is 4 ohm with a sensitivity of 86 dB. The recommended power to drive them is a minimum of 25W in a small room with 50W or more in a medium size room. In our medium sized showroom, we drove them with 150W where we fully exploited its 46 Hz to 25 KHz frequency range capability. Bass wasn’t exactly room shaking but it was punchy enough for us to enjoy it. Mids were natural, warm and smooth with the highs nicely detailed with a gentle roll off. If space is tight in the room where you place to setup an audio system, these speakers are worthy contenders over monitor speakers on stands. Their narrow towel shape can be “hazardous” with young kids around but if you setup a controlled environment, these speakers are a real gem for under $700 now. The dust cover on the soft dome tweeters have some minor dimples but has no impact on performance.
Cosmetically, the speakers have minor scuff marks here and there and a few small dings but nothing major. A small area on one side of one speaker had some patchwork done but is barely noticeable unless up close. Grille covers have a few tiny spot of stains. We don’t have the original boxes but will securely pack them for safe shipping. Speakers will be shipped in two boxes.
