Cary Audio’s DVD 7 is a player that attacks the audio and video format with vigorous enthusiasm. At one point in time, many users rated the DVD 7 as the best DVD player available. Of course now, with Blu-ray, DVD plays second fiddle to the higher definition Blu-ray discs. But in many homes, DVDs are still the primary video format. So, the DVD 7 is still as relevant today as it was before. In fact, when we had it hooked up to our Runco projector, the images were stunningly clear and sharp. We had to look hard to see the differences between Blu-ray and DVD. But the real brilliance in the DVD 7 (in our opinion) is its CD playback quality. Mapped off the back of the excellent 303/300 CD player and a video circuit disable button on the front, the DVD 7 does not hide its intention as an equally good CD player also. Music was smooth, richly textured and “meaty” sounding (unlike some other sub-$1,000 CD players where it can sound thin and dry). The asking price of $695 now is well worth it as a CD only player. Throw in its ability to playback DVDs with great clarity and it becomes a steal!
Cosmetically, the unit is in pretty good shape. Minor scuff marks from use but nothing major. Remote control and original box are included. Unit will be securely packed for safe shipping.
