The Signature 805 is a “premium” finished Nautilus 805. The Nautilus 805 had earned Stereophile Magazine’s recommendation as one of the best buy in the high end market for bookshelf speakers. And the Signature 805 shares the same accolades except in a much nicer finish. They were only offered with two finishes – The Red Birds Eye and the Grey Tiger’s Eye finish. The pair you see here is the Red Birds Eye finish. Specs wise, both speakers are almost identical. Frequency response is 56-22 KHz with a sensitivity of 88 dB and a nominal impedance of 8 ohm. The 805s have always required the use of a sturdy stand to sound their best and this pair was paired with the more expensive acrylic finish speaker stands that really made the setup stand out. On these stands and with proper placement in the room, the Signature 805s can disappear behind a luscious sounding soundstage. Bass was respectable with the mids and highs clean and precise. If you want bone shaking bass, you can always add a B&W subwoofer. But as is right now, we love its easy ability to let music flow through in its holographic presentation. The only other 805 variant that sounded better than these two is the 805 Diamond, which also happens to cost a lot more.
As you can see from the pictures, the speakers are in very nice condition with just minor scuff marks. We have the original packaging and grille cover for the speakers and will build new boxes for the stands. Shipping will be a three box affair where the stands will be dismantled and shipped in its own box. Local pickup is welcomed.
