If you are tired of the usual all metal or all wood or a mix AV rack, than picture this classy piece from BDI in your listening room. It is a six shelf unit with the top shelf the larger of the six which you can put a turntable on or a 27″ TV monitor. The top shelf is about 33″ wide and 22.5″ deep. Because the two rear corners are tapered towards the middle center, a safe usable space would be about 20″ wide and 17″ deep. That should pretty much cover most hifi components and turntables unless you have a more complex unit with external power supply, motor etc. The second shelf is more suited for a CD player where its dimensions are 17.5″ wide (measured opening between the two side frames), 16″ deep and 5.5″ tall. If you have another source unit and a preamp, they should then go into the third and fourth shelf where the dimensions are similar with the first but have a taller opening of 7.75″. The bottom two shelves are for amps where the height allowance is 9″ each. We don’t have the exact load tolerance for each shelf but previous owner did have a Classe 25 amp on the bottom shelf and that amp weighs 65lbs.
Rear spine of the rack have openings on each shelf level for cables to run in and stay hidden behind it for a cleaner, less messy look. Its all pretty nice when fully set up. Cosmetically, the rack looks really good. Minor scuff marks from use but nothing major. One owner since new. We don’t have the original packaging so local pickup from our store is preferred. If shipping is needed, it will have to go on a pallet as freight. Contact us if you need a freight shipping quote.
