This is AudioMeca’s second most expensive DAC after the Enkianthus, which cost twice as much. If the “flowery” sound of French hifi is what you desire, the Ambrosia is the escargot of DACs. It does not “pack on” the numbers like how other manufacturers have slotted in 24 bit/192 KHz DACs but instead used a tried and tested dual 20 bit PCM63P DACs and tweaked the output for a more melodius sound. Its like vinyl but with better definition, tighter bass, more extended highs and a darker background. Digital inputs are two coaxial, one BNC and one AES/EBU with one coaxial digital out (for digital recording). Analog outputs are RCA and XLR. Built quality on the DAC like everything else from AudioMeca is lavishly beautiful. Take a look at the aluminum cover top with its “wave like” pattern – simply gorgeous.
Cosmetically, the unit looks really good. Minor scuff marks from use but nothing major. Unit will be securely packed for safe shipping.
