You are probably wondering “what were they thinking of” when you read the $2,200 MSRP price tag. Well, in the not too long ago past, this is what a good universal player will command. It plays SACDs, CDs and DVDs, offers 5.1 channel out component video, S-Video, SCART and HDMI. With this full featured ensemble, you get a $2,200 price tag. Today though, all these are yours for under $400!
The DV-137 is an excellent audio player first and a video player second. We would not hesitate to put in this in the ring with any CD/SACD player costing up to $1,500. It was smooth, sweet and had a certain pomp in its audio playback. The player may look very understated but the inside is where the magic happens. Video playback was okay but given the affordability of Blu-ray players now, we would recommend you the Blu-ray path if video is going to be he main material running through the player. So this is recommended on the basis of audio playback with the video playback a bonus addition to the player.
Cosmetically, it is in fine shape. Just some minor scuff marks here and there and some scratches on the top cover but nothing major. We don’t have the original box but will securely pack this for safe shipping. We will be including a Logitech Harmony 650 universal remote with it.
