The Arcam AVR400 may be the most affordable model under a three model range (the other two models, the AVR500 and AVR600 are $3,500 and $5,000 respectively) but it still packs a long list of features that would make other competing brands/models look “naked”. It has the usual HDMI inputs (1.4a)/output, 90W into 7 channels, TrueHD, DTS-HD Master, NEO:6 (just to name a few) decoding softwares, loads of digital and analog inputs and outputs and 3D capability. Setup was relatively straight forward after reading their online manual (which we strongly recommend) where after 45 minutes of wiring it up and setting the parameters, we were able to enjoy a 90 minute of audio and video bliss. These days, its hard to distinguish one AV receiver as being better than the other since many of them are so good but the Arcam steals a few more points with its more musical approach when using it for two channel, music listening. It also has a very useful multi channel input if you have a player that has multi channel output. It also has multi channel out should you want to connect it to a higher powered multi channel amp. All good stuff and all in one box.
Cosmetically, the unit looks really good with minor scuff marks here and there but nothing major. An Arcam remote is included and the manual is available online. Unit will be securely packed for safe shipping.
