The CC3 center speaker you see here is the next best thing after the CC5. It is considerably more manageable both in terms of weight (46 lbs vs 100 lbs of the CC5) and placement where the CC3 is more “conventional” in size – 24″ wide, 11″ deep and 9.5″ tall. The CC3 can easily slide into a TV rack whereas the CC5 with its 28″ width and 22″ depth can prove to be more challenging. Driver configuration onthe CC3 is almost similar except the size of the drivers used. It uses the same 1″ titanium dome tweeter, one 5″ mid-woofer (instead of 6″ on the CC5) and two 7″ bass drivers (instead of 9″ on the CC5). Frequency response is 55 Hz to 22 KHz with a nominal impedance of 6 ohm and a sensitivity of 87 dB. Sonically, you won’t hear much of a difference between the two except when the soundtracks have a deeper bass reach or the room is larger and requires the bigger CC5 to fill the front soundstage. Other than that, the CC3, with the right amplification (minimum of 50W is required with more being better) is an astute center channel speaker that is befitting for a first class home theater system. Vocals were delivered with crystal clarity and response was quick and sharp.
Cosmetically, there are the usual scuff marks from use but nothing major. Dust cap of the two woofers have slight dimples but no impact on performance. Speaker will be securely packed for safe shipping.
