The SDA 1A you see here were highly celebrated speakers when they were introduced in the late Eighties. And their celebrity status pretty much centered around their patented Stereo/Dimensional Array technology which unlike your typical speakers has an “interconnecting” cable in addition to your speaker cables, that connects the speakers together. This cable is something of a “signal/powerline” that powers one tweeter and two mid-ranges of the other speaker. In other words, the signal from L to R and R to L is inverted. This creates an audio cancellation to each ear which results in a much bigger and deeper soundstage between the speakers. The recommended distance between the speakers are 8 feet. With the interconnecting cable almost 20 feet long, there is more than enough length to have it roped round to the back of your rack if you want to conceal the cable somewhat. Each speaker is 16″ wide, 11″ deep and 44″ tall and weighs about 70lbs. Frequency response is an impressive 15Hz to 26 kHz with a nominal impedance of 4 ohm and a sensitivity of 91dB. Recommended power to drive them is 10W to 500W with our recommendation to go higher if possible. The speakers love to be fed a good dose of high quality amperage!
Cosmetically, the speakers look good for its vintage. Minor scuff marks and tiny nicks here and there but nothing bad. We don’t have the original boxes or grille covers for the speakers. Local pickup in the store welcome but can ship them if it needs to. They will be shipped strapped on to a pallet. Just contact us for a shipping quote.
