This is arguably the greatest amp from Goldmund that retails for less than $10,000. And for many, one of the best sounding solid state amp to have walked the Earth. Compared to some of the newer Goldmund amps that have astronomical prices, the Mimesis 3 is a downright bargain when it measures so favorably against its much more expensive siblings. Goldmund have always had this dark background which has gone darker (in our opinion) with later and newer models but the Mimesis 3 had an almost perfect balance between its almost black background and its dynamic demeanor. It was fast sounding, warm and with just the right touch of detail without sounding harsh. The tonality was really good and balance and unless you are using it to drive the most current hungry of speakers, the Mimesis 3 will drive just about any speaker out there. Its 100W is conservative and underrated because it is not a “number game” amp. It does not aim to be the best on power output for the money (it is actually one of the more expensive 100W stereo amp in its day) but it was clear, it had one of the best quality 100W on tap. This amp had one previous owner from new and had been paired to a pair of Goldmund Dialogue speakers (also for sale in a separate listing) that really exemplified how a well put together system can sound better than other systems that cost two or even three times more. The amp was just completely re-capped and bias back to original factory setting so it is now good for another 15-20 years. This was a high end bargain back in the day at $7,900 but a real STEAL now at under $3,000!
Cosmetically, the unit is in pretty nice shape. Some minor scuff marks/light scratches here and there and a scuff mark on the front right rack handle. Voltage selector on the back allows it to be used between 110V or 220V with a change of the fuse. The amp will be securely packed for safe shipping.
