This is probably our most favorite CD player from Cary Audio. They do have newer and more expensive models but for the money, this offers the best bang for the buck. For starters, the CD-300 is the product of a wonderful marriage – using Pioneer’s Stable Platter Mechanism and Cary’s in-depth experience with tubes to produce this beautifully smooth, warm and detailed sounding CD player. It uses the Burr Brown 20-bit DAC with 8x oversampling which is renown for its wide dynamic range but organic sound and of course, the always reliable Stable Platter mechanism from Pioneer. The previous owner had the laser replaced about two years ago so it has plenty of life left. We also just had it serviced where two old belts were replaced so it is ready to soldier on for many more years to come. We don’t have the original remote but programmed a Logitech Harmony with Pioneer’s remote codes and it operates all its functions now.
Cosmetically, the unit looks good for its vintage. Minor scuff marks but nothing major. Unit will be securely packed for safe shipping and a copy of the manual will be included.
