This is the next best thing after the flagship $30,000 Reference 10. At only $14,000 MSRP, it shares many of the sonic attributes of the Reference 10 but housed in a single chassis. In fact, we would consider this the twin sibling of their earlier 40th Anniversary Edition. Stereophile even concluded that this was a huge improvement over the Reference 5 and we definitely can concur. The dynamic nature, transparency and imaging are better and sets a new level of performance for a under $15,000 preamp. The new design direction on the Reference 6 is also a move in the direction in our opinion. It now has a more modern appeal to it. So with a more handsome front fascia and a gorgeous sound to boot, this is a magnificent preamp to bring any system to the reference level. Tube complement on the Reference 6 is six 6H30P dual-triodes, one 6550WE, one 6H30P. Hours on the tubes are approx 698 hours (may go up slightly due to DEMOs in the store).
Cosmetically, the preamp is in great shape. Very minor scuff marks here and there from use but nothing major. One owner from new with original box, manual and remote.
