Thiel came out with a winner in this CS1.5. Its a remarkably transparent sounding speaker with lots of clean details and a nice solid bass end. The speaker may only be 8.5″ wide, 11″ deep and 33″ tall but when staged correctly, it has a soundstage and depth that you would think were produced by a much larger pair of speakers. Imaging was well centered and stood taller than the 33″ height of the speaker suggests. Vocals and jazz were our favorite music when listening to the CS1.5. It has this soulful sound that just gets you into the music. Frequency response was an impressive 42Hz to 22KHz via its 6″ metal-cone woofer and 1″ metal dome tweeter. Nominal impedance is 4 ohm with a 86dB sensitivity. The third driver you see on the speaker is a passive radiator.
Cosmetically, there minor scuff marks here and there and some small nicks along the edges but nothing major. All very age appropriate. One owner since new and original boxes are included. The grille cloth on the cover would probably need replacing or you can don’t use them at all since the speakers look way cooler without it and sonically sounded better. Speakers are shipped in two boxes so factor x2 on the shipping charges.
