A 1-Bit DAC CD player has always been one of our favorite format CD playback machine in the face of multi-bit DACs. It just has this natural smoothness to its sound. Some may argue that it lacks the finer details heard on multi-bit machines (arguable if any) but to us, it is all about enjoying the music and how natural a 1-Bit CD player can sound versus a similarly priced multi-bit machine. Naturally, 1-Bit machines are all about cost savings but it is a very good alternative if you are scouting around for a good CD playback machine. The jury is probably still out on which format is better but let’s just put all that aside and enjoy the music.
Cosmetically, it is in very good shape for its age. Some minor scuff marks here and there and a few tiny knicks on the wood side panel but nothing major. Optical output is not working at the moment (digital board probably needs some of its small caps replaced since previous owner never used it) but you never buy this for transport duty anyway. Remote is included.
