These are perhaps the most expensive (or at least one of the most expensive) 3ft pair speaker cables you can buy. Its mind boggling $11,500 for the pair was enough to make us dizzy…but of course, we are not asking anywhere near its MSRP for the pair. This pair was formerly used with a pair of Avantgarde Duos that were driven by Audio Note Legend SET monoblock amps. Both the speakers and amps are components that many us audiophiles dream about but barely get the chance to listen. But we had the chance and what a revelation it was. The Skogrands replace a pair of Tara Lab speaker cables and the difference was immediate. They were smoother and after getting past its liquid smooth response, we started to pickup tiny details that the Avantgarde’s couldn’t clearly define when driven by the Tara Lab cables. Mids were more condensed and richer in texture with the bass slightly tighter but less “lumpy”. Like all Skogrand cables, they have this unique “knotty lumps” like knuckles across the length of the cable which is their secret elixir in breathing life to the music signals flowing though it to the speakers. Cables are stiff but are easily malleable with some gentle effort.
The cables to say the least is one of the more interesting pair to come through our store. It is not necessary the “last” cable you will ever buy but it definitely stands out from the masses. They were previously attached with Speakon connectors on the end which has now been removed so that they can be used bare wire in or solder on with spades or bananas. This is the Black Edition version of the Makarian 421 speaker cables. Cosmetically, the cables are in excellent shape. Barely moved from from day one was what the previous owner told us. We don’t have the original packaging but will securely pack it for safe shipping.
